Pic. 1 footwork drills for layup
Layup is one important aspect of basketball. And with the correct technique, it becomes one of the most easiest shot to make as it is made near to the basket mostly on the backboard.
Unfortunately, several beginners find layup hard to make. Some experienced even miss the layup' steps.
Today we went back to learning the basics of the layup. First, layups entails the steps(0,1,2 steps) and throwing the ball gently against the backboard.
Before that could be done, we took the liberty to practise the drills without the backboard first (refer to pic. 1).
We took one, two steps jump high and land on both feet - (landing on both feet will reduce injuries in the future). So we did this several times . When we got a bit used to it,we then went to lay it up on the backboard.
We later used it in a game situation. It was fun. All players then went home satisfied.
